To be honest, I was quite disappointed with this movie. Before watching the film, I watch a sinppet from the original 60s soap opera to see how different it is gonna be in the remake. Yeah, the TV series is dark, and a little melodramatic, which I guess gonna be fit for Tim Burton.
This film is a complete shame. Yes, there were a lot of funny moments of the film which I laugh too hard to. But if you started to understand and focus on some of the characters more further, there were no improvements. Chloe Grace-Moretz, Jonny Lee Miller, and Jackie Earle Haley's characters have no developments, one particular reason why I kinda hate this movie.
Second, the ending. There were a good use of CGIs and special effects in the whole movie, so i'll give a credit to that. The ending surprises me because, the movie is so good, until that scene in the ending, which turns me off. I don't wanna use some spoilers to this review but, there's a single character in the movie that turns into a werewolf. Yes, a werewolf. It might become a good twist in the ending but, if you're with me, it is disappointing. The ending has a lot of twists, some are fine, but mostly bad.
If you had seen this film, I guess you laugh hard throughout the movie. Yes, I laugh a lot in the movie. Some are cheesy and cliched, but mostly are a lot of making fun on Johnny Depp's fish-out-of-water curiosity type of, which are completely a fun to watch. There's a steamy sex scene on the movie between Eva Green and Johnny Depp. Both hot actors so, you will expect the superb hotness level on that scene. Here's what I thought, it was generally funny, that you can replace the word 'Steamy' or 'Hot' to 'Funny'.
Johnny Depp is truly remarkable in this film. He has the perfect vampire persona that you totally want him to replace Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen in the Twilight series. Eva Green also is good. All the actors did a fine but very funny performances in this movie.
Overall, Dark Shadows is fine, but is kinda disappointing take on the beloved cult series. But at the same time, a funny, dark tone to it.
The geek gaves it a 6.5/10. Ill be back for my review of Men In Black III.
For now, why not watch the trailer of Dark Shadows:
