A movie about the manhunt of Osama Bin Laden. Interesting, hmmm.....
'Zero Dark Thirty' is the much-talked about Kathryn Bigelow film being marketed as 'the manhunt for Osama Bin Laden' and is garnering tons of awards and nominations. It stars Jessica Chastain, Joel Edgerton, Kyle Chandler, Chris Pratt and is directed by 'The Hurt Locker' director Katryn Bigelow.
It tackles one of the most important manhunt that and focuses on Jessica Chastain's character Maya. Now Maya is a CIA operative who is relentlessly trying to search for Osama Bin Laden and any connections he might have. For all the years, CIA seeks plans and each operations they could've think of on getting public enemy no. 1 that is Bin Laden.
To start off this review, let me give you a little background of the production and making of the movie. This movie has been tracked even before Bin Laden was killed. Originally, it was just a movie about the manhunt. But when the shocking news came last 2011, there were a lot of changes and re-writes on the screenplay. And as I said earlier, it was now being told as 'the greatest and the most iconic manhunt in history'.
There were a lot of hype surrounding the movie. Not only because Bigelow was fresh from getting the Oscar, but this is Bin Laden you are talking about. This is some serious subject matter, and that's what this movie achieves in, it doesn't get the 'cinematic thriller' but had an uber-realistic tone into it. Kathryn Bigelow is a master in this film. It gets you glued to the screen even at the first scene in the film, which I thought my favorite scene from the rest of the film. It was very intense.
Same goes out to the last frame of the movie. It's the most perfect wrap I have seen in any thriller. For how beautiful and well-shot this movie was.The cinematography of this movie was so, so good. Move over to the performances. The rest of the cast did a great job portraying their roles. But this is 'the Jessica Chastain show' people. She completely steals in every scene she's been.
'Zero Dark Thirty' is one of the best Katthryn Bigelow film ever made and Jessica Chastain brings power to the film. The 2 1/2 hour thriller is full of intensity and the most frisky movie experience I ever had.
The geek rates it 8.5/10. I will be back for some time for my review of 'The Impossible'.
'Zero Dark Thirty' is R-13 and is now showing nationwide.
