QCinema International Film Festival returns this year for its 6th edition this October 21 to 30, 2018. The festival, organized by the Quezon City Film Development Commission (QCFDC), will be featuring over 40 titles.
CIRCLE COMPETITION
Main competition of the festival, which showcases five (5) independent works of new and seasoned filmmakers in the Philippines. All selected entries received a P1.5-M production grant each.
• "Masla A Papanok" by Gutierrez Mangansakan II
In 1891, a giant bird mysteriously appears in Cotabato foretelling the rise and fall of colonial empires.
• "Billie and Emma" by Samantha Lee
Set in the mid-90’s, the film tells the story of Billie, a troublemaker from the big city, who finds herself exiled to San Isidro to live with her spinster aunt who is also the town’s religion teacher. Determined to change her ways and get through the last year of high school without incident, Billie hides herself from the world until she meets Emma, the ambitious, star student who coaxes Billie out of her shell. They soon fall in love but things get complicated when Emma finds out that she’s pregnant. Together, they explore the fleeting nature of love and life on this journey of growth, laughter and music.
• "DOG DAYS" by Timmy Harn
Dog Days follows the agony of being Michael Jodran Ulili, a teenager without family, a basketball superstar without a team. As he uncovers the myth of his destiny, he speeds into his own road to ruin, a dark path where crystal meth and blood magick ultimately test his capability to sustain a life that he doesn't know what to do with.
• "Hintayan ng Langit" by Dan Villegas
Lisang is two years late. After dying from a complication of diabetes in her 60’s, Lisang has overstayed in her waiting room in purgatory, occasionally causing other souls trouble for her own entertainment. But today her waiting ends. Today, she is finally set to crossover and her room is to be leased to a new tenant: Manolo, her still-charming, newly deceased ex-boyfriend.
• "Oda Sa Wala" by Dwein Baltazar
Sonya, an old maid is about to give up on herself until one day, she meets a corpse in her family's embalming business that changes her life.

Hirokazu Kore-eda's 'Shoplifters' will open the festival. The Palme d'Or winner at the 71st Cannes Film Festival follows a family of criminals scraping a living in downtown Tokyo.

For its closing film, Nicolas Pesce's 'Piercing' will be featured to close the festival. Starring Christopher Abbott and Mia Wasikowska, the film was selected to commence the Halloween celebration this year.

This year, the festival will not be limiting itself to Quezon City cinemas, but across Metro Manila as well. Venue line-up consists of Gateway Cineplex 10, Trinoma, Robinsons Galleria, UP Town Center, SM Megamall, SM Manila, SM Fairview, and SM Southmall.
FESTIVAL PASSES
Festival passes will be available at the QCinema desk (located at participating festival venues) for ₱1,500 (good for 10 screenings) starting October 22 until October 26, 2018.
