Iyah Mina made history last night as Cinema One Originals awarded her Best Actress for her role in ‘Mamu; And A Mother Too.’
Mina is the first transgender woman to won said award in the history of Philippine cinema. She dedicated her award to the LGBT community.
“This is for the trans community… for equality,” Mina said during her acceptance speech.
The film ‘Mamu’ also won Audience Choice Award and Best Supporting Actor for Ahron Villaflor.

The biggest winners of the awards ceremonies, held at Dolphy Theater in ABS-CBN (hosted by Xian Lim and Jodi Sta. Maria), were ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ and ‘Paglisan,’ receiving 6 and 4 awards respectively, with the latter winning Best Picture.
