Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) returns for its 44th edition and will run from December 25, 2018 until January 7, 2019 in all cinemas nationwide (except IMAX and 4D theaters).
Organized by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), it will feature eight (8) films chosen by a selection committee headed by National Artist for Literature, Bienvenido Lumbera.
THE FILMS
‘Rainbow’s Sunset’ by Joel Lamangan
After Cinemalaya’s ‘ML’ and ‘Hintayan ng Langit’ from QCinema, Eddie Garcia is on a roll for yet another film festival entry. Here, he plays Ramon, a former senator who has a secret to reveal to his family before it’s too late: his true sexuality and his affair with his dying male bestfriend (played by Tony Mabesa).
Garcia will be joined by Gloria Romero, Tirso Cruz III, Aiko Melendez, Max Collins, and Sunshine Dizon.
‘OTLUM’ by Joven M. Tan
Labelled by its director as a horror film intended for millennials, ‘OTLUM’ gathers a group of friends who were caught in a survival mission to escape a haunted orphanage.
The movie features Jerome Ponce, Ricci Rivero, Michelle Vito, Vitto Marquez, Danzel Fernandez, John Estrada, Buboy Villar, Jairus Aquino, and Vivoree Esclito.
‘Mary, Marry Me’ by RC Delos Reyes
A wedding organizer (Toni Gonzaga) faces her biggest challenge in the course of her career: the wedding of her ex-boyfriend (Sam Milby) and sister (Alex Gonzaga).
Real-life sisters Toni and Alex will be joined by a cast consists of Bayani Agbayani and Melai Cantiveros.
‘The Girl in the Orange Dress’ by Jay Abello
Anna (Jessy Mendiola) finds herself sneaking through a crowd of paparazzi after spending a night with a celebrity (Jericho Rosales).
Aside from Mendiola and Rosales, this new film by Jay Abello also stars Juan Miguel Severo, Hannah Ledesma, Cai Cortez, Nico Antonio Sheena Halili, Ria Atayde, and Via Antonio.
‘Fantastica: The Princess, The Prince, and The Perya’ by Barry Gonzalez
A family seeks to save the closing of their carnival from an evil business group with the help of magical creatures, who also have a quest of their own.
Vice Ganda leads the cast. She will be joined by Dingdong Dantes, Richard Gutierrez, Bella Padilla, Maris Racal, Loisa Andalio and Maymay Entrata.
'Jack Em Popoy: The Puliscredibles' by Mike Tuviera
Vic Sotto, Maine Mendoza, and Coco Martin team up as the “puliscredibles,” who vows to battle the crimes around their community.
'One Great Love' by Eric Quizon
Kim Chiu plays a woman in a love triangle involving her partner (JC De Vera) she gave a second chance and her bestfriend (Dennis Trillo) who has feelings for her.
'Aurora' by Yam Laranas
This horror film stars Anne Curtis, who took on a mission to look for the missing passengers in a wrecked ship named “Aurora.”
She will be joined by Marco Gumabao, Arnold Reyes, Ricardo Cepeda, Andrea del Rosario, Mercedes Cabral, and Phoebe Villamor.
FESTIVAL PARADE
A traditional “Parade of the Stars” will be happening this December 23, 2018 (1PM). It will commence at Shopwise Sucat and end at Bradco Avenue in Parañaque City.
The following roads will be closed for this event:
• Quirino Avanue from Kabihasnan to MIA Road
• Kabihasnan from Dr. A. Santos Avenue to Quirino Avenue
• Dr. A. Santos Avenue (westbound)
• MIA Road (westbound)
• Macapagal Boulevard (northbound)
